Storm King Mountain Trail

Nearby Storm King Mountain Memorial Trail is a 3.5 mile loop trail located just outside of Glenwood Springs, Colorado. This is a great trail for people looking for peace as it isn’t as busy as other nearby day hikes. This is also more difficult than other nearby trails, so the faint of heart should probably find a different path.

The Storm King Trail is a memorial to the 14 firefighters who were tragically killed fighting a wildfire on Storm King Mountain July 6, 1994. There is a lovely memorial to those men and women.

The trail is best used from April until November. Feel free to bring your doggos, but make sure to keep them on a leash! For more info, feel free to ask one of the helpful associates at Factory Outdoor.

Hike to Doc Holiday’s Grave

Doc Holiday Grave Trail

This short hike is located very near downtown and great for families, people with pets and history buffs alike.

Come see the resting place of the famed old west gunfighter (and dentist) Doc Holliday while breaking a small sweat. This hike is accessible year round and a must-do next time you’re in the Glenwood Springs area.

 Distance: .7 miles

Walk or Bike Glenwood Canyon

Glenwood Canyon Trail is a 14.3 mile trail that is conveniently located in wonderful Glenwood Springs, Colorado! This particular hike is a moderately trafficked out and back trail that is popular with hikers as well as bikers. While it’s a moderately difficult hike, the trail does offer challenges for people of all skill levels and is best between March and October.

The Canyon Trail is great for walkers, hikers, trail runners, and bikers. It’s also pet friendly, so bring your leashed dogs and make a day of it! Enjoy beautiful views of the Colorado River on your next trip to Glenwood Springs!

Hanging Lake Trail

Glenwood Springs' Hanging Lake Trail is a very popular moderate hike for people of all ages. Noted for its steep portions, the trail winds along Dead Horse Creek and through the rocky Glenwood Canyon in the White River National Forest.

The trailhead is located off of I-70 with parking on the Colorado River. The hike typically takes less than 4 hours and best for hiking spring through fall.

 Distance: 3.0 miles

Raft the Roaring Fork River

The Roaring Fork River is located nearby Glenwood Springs and offers fun for rafters of every experience level. The lower section of the Roaring Fork River extends from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs and offers a range of Class I, II and III whitewater rapids. For rafting or to kayak, you can launch boats under the intersection of Highways 82 and 133.

This section of water features breathtaking vistas of Mount Sopris and the Roaring Fork Valley. For more adventure, rafters can continue all the way to Two Rivers Park. There, you’ll find a convenient boat ramp at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and Colorado Rivers. There are a number of great local outfitters, who would be more than happy to set you up with a guided trip down one of Colorado’s finest stretch of water.
